Message The NT05, and the Falken Azenis rt615(which is supposed to be a different rubber compound then the rt615k that is available now).

With the NT05's lots of corvette owners run them, and really enjoy them. They are a harder compound and because of this they last longer then most, but won't gain much traction at an autox. However on a full track where they can get pushed harder and longer to generate more heat they really wake up. Everyone I ever took for a ride in my Z at road courses was always very surprised with how well the tires would hold.
The azenis have very limited straight line grip, but are ok on a NA Z at an autox where there isn't a lot of heat generated. When they do get hot they become very "greasy" and when they lose traction the only way I found to get it back is to let the car fully stop. They also suck in the rain.

I have talked to many other people at track days, and autox events. Lots of people really like the toyo proxies(spelling?) r1r, but they seem almost too soft for the Z(on a road course anyway), autox however they should be pretty good. I can't comment on their straight line grip though as most of the vehicles I've seen them on are relatively low powered compared to most TT Z's.

The direzza star specs are another good tire, I know lots of s2000 owners that love them. I don't know how that would translate over to our greater weight and torque though. They do seem a little on the soft side as well.

Unfortunately with tires being a little pricey I've never been able to just buy random tires to test on the Z. Best thing to really do is search. I read several articles, and reviews on the NT05 before I made my purchase with them. With the azenis I talked to one person that used them on their cavalier that they drag raced and took to some autox's. They loved them, so I tried them myself, but never thought that with the extra weight and power they'd suck.

"Face it, you just can't beat stupid."
"Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups"
"My favorite glue is Hopes and Dreams. "
"My Z runs on gas and money."
